  1. yes...of course your modems have to be on...but they stay on 24/7 anyway

  2. Depends...

    - Depends on manufacturer & model of Skype Dual-Phone:

    - Some models are USB dependent and require a PC to be running.

    - some models are self-contained and run independently of a PC and plug directly into your Internet Router.

    Here are examples:

Linksys CIT300 - USB Skype Phone..... requires a PC

LinksysCIT400 - Skype Dual-Phone does not require PC and plugs directly into your Internet Router:

Bottom line..... whatever the dual-phone you are considering, read the specs and be sure of how it functions...... some work over PC USB port.... some don't...

  3. yes you can as long you have a router at home that is on, or you are in a internet wifi hotspot outside

  4. Yes ! I use the GE DECT 6.0 Skype dual phone and it's just like a regular phone. all you do is choose between Skype and regular landline. It plugs into your router for Skype and the phone jack for landline and works perfectly.

  5. No - it needs to be on and logged in.
