  1. hope you play some city ball or have friends you practice with or you just dont plan on walking on to the team. your only hope is not enuf girls show up for tryouts because volleyball isnt a game easy enuf to play without time of playing and practice that others have accumulated over time

  2. i forgot wat i was gonna say

  3. Calm down. Just remember to bend your knees and call the ball. I'm sure you'll do just fine. And yea that is an intense camp. Good Luck.

And dont forget to give it your all. Coaches like to see players who try hard and who really want to make the team.

  4. 1. RELAX- you cant exactly play your best when your nervous, it will hold you back. dont waste your energy on being nervous, use your energy for the court.

    2. LEARNING ATTITUDE- show your coach that although you may not be the best player or the most experienced player, you are the player that is ready to listen and learn. you must be the player that is willing to work hard. be the one who is open to all suggestions and advice given.

    3. HUSTLE- coaches notice players who hustle. that includes during games, during practice, during drills, anytime and all the time. there is no walking on a volleyball court, near a volleyball court, or near any practice/ game areas.

    4. MIND SET- you are not going to TRY to do your best, you are going to DO your best- even if your not the most experienced or skilled. show your coach thatt you are there to play volleyball, try to avoid side conversations during games or practice, or most imporant: NO TALKING WHILE COACH IS TALKING!

    5. AGGRESSIVE!- number 1 rule in volleyball, if you are going to call the ball, you are gonna call LOUD and you are gonna get the ball. call the ball when you think you  can get it, you call it, you get it... even if someone else is calling the ball , too. but, make sure if you're going to get the ball while someone else is calling it, that you were calling the ball louder than your teammate.

  5. Learn all you can at camp. Practice a ton. At tryouts remember to give it your all and show the coaches you want to play and are willing to improve and work hard on your skills. Hope everything works out! =)

  6. confidence -man ,have confidence, grow confidence. think that u r better than anybody in the team can do better and better and ultimately u'll become the best one day.

  7. I'm going to tell you my honest opinion and hope that you take it well.

You need confidence. As of now, you don't sound ready for the volleyball team. Try joining a rec league, club team or find a beach volleyball league, or get with some friends to start working on the basic skills, setting/bumping/serving and spiking. Keep working on those skills, and your confidence will go up!

Just curious, why didn't you go to that camp? You sound like it would be too "intense" for you. Would the team itself not be "intense"? Are you prepared for that?

As for embarassment, you can't think about what everyone else will think, just go out there and stay composed, focussing on what you need to do and being oblivious to the outside world.

    So...suggestions:

    1. As I said, focus on every move (especially when coaches are watching!)

    2. Stay calm! It's not a death warrant.

    3. Cheer on other teammates/call the ball loudly

    4. Wear a volleyball shirt/spandex/running shoes/knee pads

    5. Take any coaching tips, and try them.

  8. practice makes perfect lol

i'm sure most of the reason you're nervous is because all the others of whom you're speaking have played before, you havent.  I'd say don't let that affect you..... push it completely out of your mind.  And practice, practice, practice.

What's your weakness? The area that needs the most work? For me my struggle was timing the jump with the spike LOL .... i was horrible at it .... but i was good with mostly everything else. I struggled a bit at serving at first, but the more i practiced, the better i got.  Find what your weakest at... and practice that the most! Keep your mind on 'the game' ..... not on the fact that you're the only one who's never played before.  Volleyball's about team work ... it's not a one man show.... so, each member has their own strengths to contribute....  stay focused, and practise tons! I'm sure you will be great!

Practising tons! This worked for me. *sighs* I haven't played in years unfortunately.... that's one of the things on my list to do.....

*also .....to set.... get directly under the ball, cup it, thumbs down directly above forehead....  use mainly your wrists to thrust the ball, not the force of 'pushing' with your arms .....  (at least that's what worked for me, and i was pretty good at setting.)
