I like Volvos better, particularly the newer ones.  They have been transformed from boring family wagons to cool Scandinavian machines.

Besides a good image, Volvos provide class-leading safety equipment and design.

VWs on the other hand, I find incredibly boring.  The dashboard is so dull, no style at all.  I don't think the handling of VWs is especially good, lots of body roll and woolly steering.  I think they are overrated as far as reliability is concerned, too.

In lots of customer satisfaction surveys (like JD Power), VW dealers have a reputation for being snotty and unhelpful.
