I only just got my internet to work through the adapter by entering ip address and all other info manually but I still have no dialtone and keep geting an error code 3 after error code 6. Everytime I call them they tell me what to do and they are sure that will fix it. My ceel doesnt work at my house though so I cant call them from home. Online my account says active and shows my phone#, but on the adapter under status it says line not set up no phone number, but it is set up and I do have a phone number. Please help, no one from vonage has been able to.

  1. Am not quite sure about your network setup but got an idea that you are having two vportal adapters and possibly a modem given by your internet people I believe... ok now here is the solution check whether it works out for you...first connect your computers alone directly to your internet modem and check whether its going online and you are able to access internet if yes then its prob with the vonage config and if internet doesnt work contact your internet people immediately and now when the internet works fine go ahead and connect one of your vonage boxes directly to the internet modem and the computer to the vonage.....and try doing this powercycle process and hard reset and this should help..

    for this we will deal only with your internet modem......1 vonage device...and a computer alone

    Cable connections

    ===============

    Make sure that from the internet modem the ethernet cable say blue or yellow cable should be connected to the blue slot of your vonage device  and from the yellow slot of your vonage device another ethernet cable  to your computer so please check  for this setup as this is important

    Hard reset

    =========

    Look at the rear end of your vonage box and you could see a small reset button...take a sharp pin and press that reset button for 30 - 45 seconds and then release with the vonage powered on

    Powercycle

    =========

    Now remove the power cord from the vonage box and then remove the power cord from the internet modem and wait for 2 mins....then power on the internet modem alone first and then wait for the internet lights and all other lights to become solid in it except ethernet/pc activity light which would come up upon powering vonage..now go ahead and power on vonage.....and this time you should see following message powering up and retrieving IP and downloading firmware and finally ready to make calls when you have that message it mean vonage is ready and also look for a phone handset symbol on the LCD screen...if it has headset symbol with number 1 then it means that phone number has to been assigned in green phone port 1 of your vonage device and make sure you plug the phone directly to phone 1 and on 2 if the symbol says 2...and if you find none may be you have not assigned any numbers and check with the other vonage device you have and also u can assign phone numbers to port from online web account too....and also you might encounter some static noises so try to  use a regular telephone and also ignore those firmware errors on LCD screen...

    the above solution should work cool if you have a cable connection like comcast , roadrunner but if u are having a DSL we need to follow a seperate process but u can try these for DSL too.....and whenever you happen to have this no dial tone issue dont hard reset but follow the powercycle process mentioned above tat should fix and also if you still have problem check for connecting computer directly to  internet modem  and check connectivity and may be it  could be your internet issue which is causing vonage not to work......hope vonage works fine for you......See ya
