Hey does anybody know of a good VPN client, kind of like the Cisco Systems VPN Client, but one that I can actually download for free? I really need one for when I connect to unsecured wireless networks. Thanks for any and all info you can give me!!

  1. You need both a vpn client AND a vpn server.

    My favorite is OpenVPN

    see: http://www.openssl.net

Once connected to your "home" network, in a secured fashion you can be certain that all DNS and certs are being handled by your home ISP.  So even if you are connected through an evil twin exploit at an airport you can still do banking in relative safety.

    1. install vpn server behind firewall at home

    2. forward port to you new openvpn server

    3. install client

While it is complicated, ssl vpn's are way easier and more versatile than IPSEC vpn's.

    good luck

  2. OpenVPN is a good solution.

If you are running Windows XP, you might find that the built-in VPN support is adequate to suit your needs. Step by step instructions that explain how to configure a connection to a virtual private network can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314076

  3. do a search on download.com
