VPN connection error

Hi,I am trying to connect to our companies server via a VPN and get Error 678 Remote computer did not respond. I can ping server and get a reply. I have switched off firewall and anti virus.I have checked all the VPN settings against another computer that can access the server via VPN. I am running windows XP. Any ideas?
