VRT Formula 1 driver Timo Glock leaves hospital after appendix surgery – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team Formula 1 driver Timo Glock has said that he is leaving from the Hospital on Thursday, March 3, 2011.
After an appendix surgery in the Swiss hospital on Tuesday, the doctors confirmed him fine as he is recovered quickly.
Following the ‘routine’ surgery, the Virgin team boss John Booth had already revealed that the Glock is only expected to stay another 24 hours in a hospital.
Regarding the German drivers’ condition, the team boss said, “To ensure a swift recovery, it is unlikely that he will take part in next week's test in Barcelona and that Jerome (d'Ambrosio) will run on all four days instead.”
The Virgin team signed Glock for the 2010 season. At the start of the season, he gave his best driving performance while the car was not so competitive.
In the first three Formula 1 tests, Glock’s overall performance was poor for the team because his new MVR-02 car experienced massive problems over the testing runs. During the Valencia testing days, Glock drove with his teammate Jerome d’Ambrosio and both
drivers completed only a few laps.
Other than the Valencia tests, he also did not perform well on the Jerez circuit except on the day two of the test. In the four-day Barcelona test, he tried his best to set the pace of his new MVR-02 car. In addition, he tried to adjust the team on the top
positions of the race.
As Glock improved, the Virgin team boss admitted that it is possible Glock will be well enough to drive in the final Barcelona test.
On the other hand, Glock is sure he would be fit for the 2011 season opener in Melbourne but he said, “It's a shame that I'll probably miss the final tests in Barcelona.”
The Virgin team announced that they will make a final decision about Glock’s presence in the Barcelona tests early next week. They went on to say that they are looking forward to have Timo Glock back with the team very soon.
Glock added, “(Going) straight back home but unfortunately (for) more recovery (so) no training! That's boring!”
The team still expects a lot from Virgin’s driver because they are looking forward to a successful upcoming season that is expected to begin on March 27, 2011 in Melbourne.
