VRT driver Jerome d’Ambrosio: Suzuka is one of the best racetracks in the calendar – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team driver Jerome d’Ambrosio has said that Suzuka is one of the best racetracks on the Formula 1 calendar.
D’Ambrosio added that he was happy with his 2011 Singapore race results and after that, he is hopeful of getting better results from the rest of the ongoing Formula 1 season.
The Belgian driver talked to the media about the upcoming event circuit and mentioned that Suzuka is challenging, fast and very technical circuit of the sport, so everything can be expected during the race.
The Dinnington-based outfit driver also mentioned that the overall layout of the Suzuka circuit is amazing and that he cannot wait to race there, as he is very excited for the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix.
Talking to reporters, d’Ambrosio commented, “Last year I had the chance to drive during the first Free Practice session in Japan and I think the first sector is the highlight of the lap; the Esses are incredible and it's tough to keep the right line. There
are also a couple of low-speed corners and a chicane where you have very heavy braking.”
He went on to mention, “I've been back home in the break, so I can keep up my training as this will be important for all the travel, different time zones and temperatures in the last five Grands Prix.”
The 25-year-old driver has been unable to perform well on the grid for his team since the start of the ongoing season. In the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix, d’Ambrosio failed to compete with their rivals and after struggling with his MVR-02 car, he ended up
in the 18th spot ahead of HRT driver Daniel Ricciardo.
He tried to improve his performance during the races so far following his below par start to the season, but due to an unsupportive role of his car, he has been unable to do that.
After the 14 races of the ongoing season so far, d’Ambrosio is placed at the 24th spot ahead of his teammate Timo Glock in the 2011 drivers’ championship.
Let’s see how he manages his race at the Suzuka circuit this weekend following his 18th position in the Singapore race.
