VRT driver Timo Glock: I am really looking forward to 2011 Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team driver Timo Glock has said that he is really looking forward to the upcoming Japanese race weekend, which will begin from October 7, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
Glock added that he was disappointed with his 2011 Singapore race results. He also mentioned that despite his last race results, he is looking forward to driving at the fast Suzuka circuit this weekend.
The German driver failed to perform strongly on the grid against his rivals during the raceday at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Due to having an accident, he had to retire from the Singapore Grand Prix after completing 9 laps.
Talking to reporters, Glock commented, “The figure-of-eight layout is really unique and with the Spoon Curve and high-speed 130R corner, it's a really demanding circuit with a thrilling fast-flowing lap, similar to circuits like Silverstone or Spa. 130R
is one of the fastest corners in Formula One and you really have to think about how you approach it - it's a real buzz to take the corner carrying so much speed.”
He went on to mention, “I've been back to Europe in the break to continue to work on my fitness for the long-haul races, which means a lot of cycling in Switzerland of course.”
The 29-year-old driver further said that Suzuka is a fun and challenging circuit in the sport and that he is sure he will enjoy the race at it.
Apart from that, Glock stated that the next couple of races of the 2011 Formula 1 season will be tough for the team. Other than that, he mentioned that he hopes VRT will receive positive results from the next two rounds.
The Dinnington-based outfit is still not in a competitive form in the ongoing season since the start of the 2011 championship battle.
After taking part in 14 rounds of the season so far, Glock is placed at the 25th place in the 2011 drivers’ championship.
Let’s see how Glock performs at the Suzuka circuit this weekend following his retirement from the 2011 Singapore race.
