VRT drivers Timo Glock, Jerome d’Ambrosio excited about European Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team drivers Timo Glock and Jerome d’Ambrosio have recently stated that they are hoping for an exciting race in Valencia for the European Grand Prix as the track is quite technical.
Virgin have been unable to perform up to the mark yet again in the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season as they have not scored a single point so far. However, one has to admit that they are looking more competitive than Hispania Racing Team during both the qualifying
sessions and the race.
However, Team Lotus have been the best of these three new teams so far as they have been finishing ahead of both Virgin and HRT quite consistently. The two Virgin drivers are hoping for the best at the upcoming races and they are trying to enjoy the sport
as much as they can.
Timo Glock has recently stated that the track in Valencia is quite similar to Monte Carlo from the Monaco Grand Prix and it is an interesting challenge for the drivers as they have to maintain their focus and perform competitively in order to stay in a good
spot.
“This is usually a very hot race, which adds to the challenge, and a great and very up and coming city. For us it's a case of doing the best job possible with our equipment, bringing both cars home and continuing to make good calls from the pitwall to ensure
we are there to take advantage of opportunities along the way,” he said.
Other than that, Jerome d’Ambrosio stated that Valencia has always been an enjoyable circuit for him during his time in GP2 and agreed with his teammate that the track is quite technical. However, he said he will try his best to improve his performance after
a strong performance at the Canadian Grand Prix.
“The race in Canada was a great experience for me - it was a rather disappointing Qualifying session but in the end I had some really good moments during the race that will only help me to develop as a driver and I'm optimistic of a good weekend in one of
the best European race venues,” said d’Ambrosio.
The upcoming race is expected to take place on June 26, 2011 and it is believed that it is going to be a very competitive race. Let’s see how things transpire this weekend.
