VRT team principal John Booth: We arrive in Nürburgring in high spirits – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing team principal John Booth has said that they arrived in Germany in high spirits to put in another positive performance after a successful race weekend in Silverstone recently.
The tenth round of the 2011 Formula 1 season is going to take place in Nurburgring this weekend, July 24.
Virgin’s principal discussed about the team’s progress with the media that his team seems to make improvement in terms of pace from the last few races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
He added that the Silverstone race results of the team have given them a big boost for the remainder of the ongoing season, so they arrive in Germany in high spirits for another positive race.
Booth said, “After a positive weekend on home soil at Silverstone, we are looking forward to getting to Germany to continue with our positive progress. We have seen an improvement in pace over the last few races and after our sixth double finish of the season
last time out.”
Both VRT drivers Timo Glock and Jerome d’Ambrosio had a good time in the recently held British Grand Prix, where they had positive Friday Free Practice sessions.
The qualifying round was unlucky for them, as they could not secure their best positions for Sunday’s race. However, they had a trouble-free British Grand Prix on the new Pirelli tyres. Glock and d’Ambrosio ended up at the 16th and 17th
places respectively.
The team principal talked about the Nürburgring race track and went on to say, “The Nürburgring, where the weather is always notoriously unpredictable, is a historical circuit with a good mix of corners, mostly slow and medium speed. The cars tend to understeer
here, so a well matched mechanical and aerodynamic balance is needed to compensate this.”
After the British Grand Prix, the team is looking forward to another successful race weekend in Germany. Let’s see how the drivers manage their race over there.
