VRT team principal John Booth pleased to be back on the European soil – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team team principal John Booth has said that he is glad to be back in Europe and is hoping for a good race weekend for his team in Valencia.
He said his team performed pretty well in the last grand prix of the 2011 Formula 1 season, the Canadian Grand Prix.
“After a thrilling race in Canada two weeks ago, everyone at Marussia Virgin Racing is pleased to be back racing on European soil next weekend in Round 8 of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship - the European Grand Prix in Valencia,” said Booth.
Virgin Racing Team have been struggling to perform up to the expectations once again in 2011 as they have not managed any good performance. They have been unable to compete actively against their rivals Team Lotus, who have been the best out of the three
new teams in the sport since 2010.
Nevertheless, Virgin have been performing much better than Hispania Racing Team in terms of results.
Booth believes that the upcoming European Grand Prix is going to be quite interesting as the circuit in Valencia is a street circuit and compared to the rest of the street circuits of the sport, quite lengthy as well.
“The circuit has fast and flowing parts which, coupled with the proximity of the barriers, makes this an interesting and challenging experience both for drivers and their teams. There are no fewer than 25 turns – the highest number of any current Grand Prix
circuit – and these present an entertaining mix of long fast straights and slower corners,” he said.
Other than that, he added that the Valencia circuit is a very technical one and requires good traction control in order to enable the drivers to perform at their best.
The team principal claims that the team is trying to give its best each weekend and score the best possible results throughout the season which is probably a two-car finish ahead of their current rivals, HRT and Team Lotus.
