VVV-Venlo and SBV Excelsior keep their hopes alive to avoid relegation – Dutch Eredivisie news
VVV have managed to win the first-leg of their relegation playoff by defeating FC Volendam at Kras Stadion on Thursday, May 19, and looking confident to progress through to the third round of play-offs. On the other hand, the outfit from Excelsior passed
a scare in their first-leg encounter against FC Den Bosch at Stadion De Vliert, as the match ended in a 3-3 stalemate on the same day.

alive. Both sides searched for the winner before the end of the match. However, it was VVV’s moment to enjoy as Musa Ahmed scored one for his side in the 89th minute to seal the score-line 2-1 in favour of the visitors.
On the other hand, the outfit from Excelsior passed a scare when they managed to end the match in a stalemate in the dying minutes of the match. The Blue White Dragons started the match with aggressive intent, and put constant pressure on the visitors’ back-line.
They were rewarded in the 25th minute, when Paco Moore found the back of the net to make the score line read 1-0 in favour of the home side.
The Kralingers tried to show resistance after conceding an early goal, but were struggling to perform at their best. However, they found the equaliser just before half-time when Roland Bergkamp netted for his side in the 41st minute.
