The former Heerenveen stopper’s contract with Bradford City expired, and the Eredivisie outfit were quick to add the experienced defender to their squad on a free transfer.
Reports from De Koel Stadion confirm that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VVV-Venlo-c40915 have successfully acquired the services of Marcel Seip on a season-long deal. The 30-year-old’s contract at Bradford City expired on June 30, and the player opted to head back
home after spending six years in England despite interests from Polish and Turkish sides.
The central defender, who started his professional career at Veendam in the summer of 1999, moved to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 to ply his trade at Plymouth Argyle at the start of the 2006/07 season after making close to 100 appearances for Heerenveen.
The Dutch stopper represented the English Football League Two side in 134 matches, and also enjoyed loan spells at Blackpool, Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic during his five-year stay at Plymouth Home Park.
At the start of the 2011/12 campaign, the Dutchman joined the Bantams, initially on a three-month deal but ended up playing the whole season.
VVV were in the market to sign a centre-back, and saw Seip as a perfect addition to their squad.
A statement on the club’s official website read:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Seip, who has trained with the VVV Venlo selection since Tuesday 3 July, was offered a contract on 15 July from the Venlo club. The 30-year old defender still needs to be given the medical green light, and is set to sign
a contract which will bind him to the Venlo club for one season”

Reports indicate that the veteran defender will undergo a medical on Tuesday, July 17, before putting pen to a contract that will keep him at De Koel Stadion until the summer of 2013.
VVV finished 16th on the league table in the 2011/12 campaign and had to win the relegation/promotion play-offs to remain in the Dutch top tier.
