VVV-Venlo’s Ahmed Musa on Schalke radar – Dutch Eredivisie news
Reports in Dutch media indicate that Schalke 04 are taking keen interest in signing VVV-Venlo’s Ahmed Musa in the winter transfer market to replace Jefferson Farfan. The Die Knappen winger is wildly expected to join Malaga in January, and the club management
sees the 18-year-old as a perfect replacement.
Farfan has an ongoing contract that runs until the summer of 2012 and does not intend to prolong his stay with Die Knappen. Furthermore, after hearing about Spanish La Liga outfit’s interest in acquiring his signature, it seems unlikely that the 26-year-old
will pursue his career at Veltins-Arena in the second-half of the 2011/12 campaign.
With Farfan’s departure looking imminent, Schalke head coach Huub Stevens is looking at his options to find a perfect replacement for the 26-year-old. Reports suggest that Musa is on the list of possible successor to the Peruvian winger after performing
impressively in the Dutch top tier.
The young winger arrived at De Koel Stadion in the summer of 2010 after impressing in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigeria-c2970 Premier League. The youngster has made 29 appearances for Venlose Trots so far and managed to hit the back of the net on eight occasions.
Stevens has admitted that it is always difficult to fit new players into the squad especially in the mid-season.
“If you buy a player in the winter, you generally pay the price. Furthermore, it is always difficult to fit new players”, Stevens said while talking to the media.
Musa has an ongoing contract with Venlose Trots that will keep him at De Koel Stadion until the summer of 2013. However, reports indicate that an offer in the region of 10 million Euros would be enough to lure the young winger away from VVV.
Should Farfan make a move away from Veltins-Arena in the winter transfer market, Schalke would then be forced to table a bid for the Nigerian forward to fill in the shoes of the 26-year-old.
