VW GTI or Mazdaspeed3?

I would go with the Mazda 3.  I recently bought one and have no complaints.  Plenty of get up and go plus I find it to be more roomy.  If you are a tall person like myself I find it to be the better fit.  I am 6'5 250 and have plenty of leg and head room and it is a comfortable ride.  Not to mention mazda's are cheaper to fix if something goes wrong.  I previously owned an Audi A4 and when German cars go wrong your pocket book goes down!

I would suggest to test drive both of the cars , try both  out on the highway  and in  normal traffic.  Then and only then  would you be able to decide  what car is best for you.

I like the style of the VW GTI better then the style of the mazda. but the hp is better for the Mazda.

They are in different classes.

The GTI has a 200HP engine and competes with Honda Civic Si and Nissan Sentra SE-R.  0-60mph in 6.5 seconds.

The Mazdaspeed 3 has 268HP and competes with Subaru WRX and Mistubishi Lancer Ralliart and Volkswagen R32.  0-60mph in 5.9 seconds.

Both cars use turbocharged engines and are fun to drive, but the Mazdaspeed is the better deal, you get more room, more power, more practicality, and around the same price.

The Mazda is a better quality car.It also looks better,and will destroy the GTI in the quarter mile or just 0-60.I believe the Mazda also gets better gas mileage,and is a better price.

GTI Im 6 foot and 250 lbs and the car fits me just perfect.  The car is miles ahead in refinement over the typical japan makes.  Power is great and the torque curve is basiclly flat as the floor your standing on.  I owned a 2004 Mazda and that thing was a rattle trap that got terrible gas milage and the interior felt very impersonal.  I always felt disconnect from the car.  The GTI is just the opposite.  You really fel connected to it when you driving.  Oh and the automatic DSG is absolutely AMAZING!
