VW Kombi Camper in California

Question

I am looking to buy a VW Kombi, preferrably split window ("V" front) but may be open to bay window, in California (nor cal). Have about $1500, more or less.

Anyone maybe even have one sitting in their yard they dont want? I see so many of those, unused.

dont listen to them you can find buses for 1500 but i would advise you to go for the bay window cos they have a more pwoerfull motor and trans, but the split does look alot sexyer, i am in the same struggle as you but if yu want a day to day car i would go for the bay windo is your bets bet but be worned the only go about 65-70mph ant top speed so stay in the slow lane,

You are looking for a collector car. (read MO MONEY) Get hennings motors catalog and Trade a car mag- they have one just for VW. Get to "Kelly blue book" on line and you will see what they are worth. I stopped buying them when they started going for more than $800. "need's work." PS The more stuff they have -the less of it will work--ie 12v refridgerator--in wall propane heater--water pump for sink--pop-up tent. But I really did love driving them-and you could sneak in any where and park for the night if it wasn't painted like a hippy bus.
