VW accidentally fitted in an extra accessory in my car. Will I have to pay?

Hi,

I picked up my new car last weekend and found out VW fitted a Bluetooth device in my car. The salesman said its happy days and since its their mistake i would not have to pay for it.

This morning i received a voicemail from his manager asking me to call him back regarding the incorrectly fitted device.

Am I liable to pay for it even though they fitted it incorrectly? And even tho the salesman said i wouldn't have to pay for it? Can they take this back?

Thanks!

  1. VW have no right. Its their error, they have to pay for it. The cannot waste your time. If it gos to court you will win. Tell them what you think then ignore them.

  2. If you signed the sales contract for that VIN number on that car.  The deal is made. If you already got the loan and paperwork done, Then for sure that car is yours. If those are the cases and the dealer gives you a hard time, tell them you will call your states attorney generals office, then do it. They love going after shady car dealerships. When a vehicle is made, it is made off of a build sheet. That is everything added to the car. Also the window sticker will show accessories. Otherwise it is considered standard equipment.

If you signed a sales contract or all ready bought the car, then it is yours.

Bluetooth is a non pay service as far as I know so it should work when it finds another Bluetooth device. There should be no legal way for them to turn it off without your permission.

  3. You are under no obligation to pay for the fitted device. VW is 100% liable for any mistakes or indescrepancys that they personally conduct. By the salesman telling you, at the point of sale, that this was their error and you were free to accept it without charge, they were entering into a verbal agreement with you. Do not, under any circumstances, feel bullied or obligated to pay for the extra device in your car. If they don't back down, threaten a law suit, I guarantee you they'll leave the situation alone. Larger corporate companies often use scare tactics and bullying to extra make money off it's consumers - do not fall for this one, you are not at fault here. Good luck

  4. The first two answers are all you need, but if you do have them remove this after their mistake then subsequent fussing, you'd 'effing OWN THEM.

You'd be known as they guy they royally screwed over and could be the king of the service dept. for future repairs/maintenance...

    Think about the leverage?!?

  5. That makes me wonder if you take it back there for service if they will just remove it when it is there....

Was it written into your contract? Which model did you buy? I was looking around at VW.com and didn't see bluetooth as an option anywhere.

  6. if they keep pushing the matter by harassing them tell them you'll sue for harassment on there own mistake.
