Vacansoleil-DCM riders will be testing Bianchi’s new carbon technology in the coming seasons
Dutch professional bicycle team Vacansoleil-DCM has signed a two year open contract with the world’s oldest bicycle making company, Bianchi. Bianchi Oltre will be the team’s new bike for the coming season.
Bianchi was established in 1885 and is amongst the few companies who have mastered the art of bicycle manufacturing with pneumatic rubber tires and equal-sized wheels.
Bob Ippolito, the CEO of Bianchi, mentioned that Bianchi bicycles are the perfect choice for the expert riders. He further added that their new carbon technology will be tested during international events which will allow them to further improve it after
receiving feedback from the cyclists.
Daan Luijkx, the team’s manager, was thrilled to sign the deal with the renowned company. He said, "For us, Bianchi is the best option for our long term strategy and we look forward to our winning cooperation. With a history of 126 years, we believe Bianchi
will be an incredible partner. The Bianchi Oltre stands for high-technology, advanced product development and Italian design, which support our goal to reach victories in WorldTour races."
Team Vacansoleil had a rough season as it was unable to score many UCI points in 2011. Its best rider at the UCI World Tour Individual ranking, Marco Marcato is at 42nd position with 102 points. Wout Poels has scored 94 points and is at 50th
position. Following him, is Bjorn Leukemans at 61st position with 76 points.
The Dutch Team has scored 369 points in total and secured the 17th position at UCI Team’s ranking as of September 2011. Vacansoleil is hopeful to start the new season with improved performance. It will be interesting to see if the change of bikes
can help the team perform better in the coming seasons.
