Question:

Vacation, What To Do Without Garage Cat

by  |  earlier

I am going on vacation for one week next week. My cat stays in our garage, she knows to go in there, and I am not allowed to leave it cracked a tiny bit like I usually do. I don't want to shut her out, is it fine to leave her locked in there with a fan? Or should I leave her outside and have a neighbor give her food and water? Please answer!

  1. well, you could take it to the vet and theyll take care of it or you could give it to the neighbor with her food :]

    good luck!

  2. dont lock her inside with a fan!! are you asking for her to die!!!????

get a catflap on your garage door.

  3. Do you have a trusted friend?  if so, give her the key, have them come in and care for the cat.

I cat sit for 3 cats and a dozen birds for a friend.

  4. Please add to your question your age and home situation. i am not clear if you are a teen whose parents don't care about the cat (but you do) or if you are an adult who is wondering how to take care of your cat while away.

There are SOOOO many cat lovers everywhere, that if you put out a simple newspaper or online ad in your area, I guarantee you will find someone to help you with your kitty for a week while you are away to avoid something bad happening to her. You can offer a small $ amount, but if it comes down to locking her in a garage for a week, you will get tons of takers for FREE! If you are really stuck for help, ask your local SPCA how to get help for you kitty for one week.

Please treat her well--she is a smart and strong girl if she was born wild and left to her own devices, but once tamed, she has no choice but to live by your rules, even if they are as cruel as locking her in a garage--please don't do that to her--thanks so much for your question bc probably lots of other folks don't realize this same kind of stuff about cats--you are a good person for checking!  : )

  5. Put a cat flap in the garage door so she can get in and out and then ask a neighbour to feed her every day.

Or do you know any one with responsible kids that still live at home, (I.E kids in thier late teens/earlytwenties), I'm sure they would love the opportunity to house sit for a week and get a break from their parents.

Other than that put her in a cattery.
