  1. I won a trip through Discovery. If its the deal where all you pay are the port charges then its the same deal. I didn't take the offer because I looked it up on the internet and found nothing but bad things about Discovery. I did go on a 4 day Bahama cruise but went with Royal Caribbean. It was awesome. My tickets for the cruise were $650 of that $420 were port charges. So the Discover cruise really isn't much of a deal. Check for your self do a search of Discovery cruises. I believe you will change your mind as well.

  2. No experience with either. However, I have been to the Bahamas and enjoyed it.  You should have fun on Discovery. The time of year is critical. Summer and fall (especially fall) is hurricane season so your trip could be rocky if a hurricane presents itself.

  3. I have been on a cruise that stopped at Nassau.  It was with Carnival.  I personnally think that about three hours of Nassau is enough.  The Atlantis is great, but the city is very poor and the people are only trying to get your money.  I have not been on a Discovery cruise, but I have looked at them.  I would rather take the 17 hour slow ride to Nassau from Port Canaveral, then a four hour trip for Fort Lauderdale.  I enjoy the ammenities on the ship.  I am really there for the cruise than the ports.  I would rather spend four days on a cruise ship then four days in the Bahamas.

  4. I have been on a cruise where the Bahamas was one of the destinations...small island, great beaches, shopping and very nice people. Also, cruising in itself is quite nice.

I hope you go - if so, have a fabulous time.
