Vacation come home and ants.

Question

my family went on vaccation for two weeks and we ran the dishwasher before we left. We came home and have noticed a few ants on the couter above the dishwasher. We kill them turn around come back 10 minutes later and find more on the counter. BUT ONLY ON THAT COUNTER, no where else in the kitchen. All the cabinets are ant free as well as the floor. We aren't positive if they are coming from the back of the dishwasher or not. We can't figure it out. Its like they are be teleported or something. Its driving me crazy.

its common for ants to be coming into your home at this time of year, the main reason they are coming into your house is because its hot and they need water to survive, so they are usually found in places next to a sink (or even dishwasher) rather it be the kitchen or bathroom. There is no easy solution to it except just spray them (kill) when you see them, and make sure you dont leave standing water in a any sinks, on counters or in dishwashers, of course dont leave food around because that will only attract more and make them wan to nest in your home. They would love to live in a place where food and water is easily availble so as long as you dont make it availble - they will leave soon. I found it also helps to avoid them from ever entering your house just by putting down a layer of bug spray around the house , theres a bunch of sprays that have a lasting residue that deters bugs from entering, theres also a couple of powders that i have tried that specifically are made to keep ants away- they work quite well except the powder ou have to apply a few times over summer (but its cheap). ps - double check that the dishwasher isn't leaking.
