my family has a vacation to florida planned in 2 weeks. we will be in disney for 7 days, sea world for 1 day, busch gardens for 1 day, and sanibel island for 2 days. my hotels are paid for. we have the food plan at disney and we have money set aside for the gas and food expenses while at the other parks and beach. i have $2100 for spending money (for suvineers and things). it will be just me, my son, and my boyfriend going. is this going to be enough? i have been so paranoid lately that i won't have enough money for this trip.

  1. Souvenirs, dear, not suvineers.

If you've already paid for the hotel, the transportation to and from florida, and the park tickets, and have at least some of your meals paid for, then $2100 for souvenirs and incidentals should be plenty.

Try adding up average costs for each day, then multiplying that amount out to see what the total cost will be.  You'll be less nervous if you know you have plenty of money to afford what you will probably want to do.  For example, let's say you eat breakfast at the hotel, and you each have lunch ($10 average) and dinner ($20 average) and a snacks ($10 average) at the park.  That's $40 a day in meals per person, times three people is $120 per day, times 11 days is $1320 total.  So then subject the number of meals you've already paid for.

For souvenirs, give yourself a budget of $50 per day.  If you want to go over that, fine, just remember that you have to deduct that amount from the next day's spending.

  2. While you could certainly spend $2100 if you wanted to, you should be fine. My family and I just got back from Disney World on August 3. Our airfare, rental car, and lodging for our 1 week stay was already paid for. Other than that, we spent $700 on food and souvenirs. We staying in a condo at The Fountains Resort in Orlando that had a full kitchen, so we cooked a lot of our meals. The rest of the time we ate off Disney property. But since you've already paid for the meal plan, you should have more than enough cash.

  3. I think you should be okay. Especially if rooms and food are paid for already. You will only need spending money. Go and have a great time and spend wisely.
