  1. Depends on where you're coming from.  Florida is a great family trip.  17 and 16 year old might feel they are too old for Disney World.  There's always Universal Studios, Epcot, beaches, etc.

Los Angeles is also a great trip.  Hollywood, Venice and Santa Monica Beaches, Six Flag's Magic Mountain, so much to do.

Cruise might be fun.  Kids might enjoy a Carnival Cruise because it is known as the "Fun Ship".  But I would go to the carribbean or Mexico rather than Alaska (not that there's anything wrong with Alaska, just thinking of what a teenager would/could do.)

You might want to sit down with the family and ask for suggestions.  One of them might have somthing that they want to do that you didn't even think of that could be fun and exciting.

h**l, rent an RV and see the country.  There are so many places the U.S that are worth stopping at and seeing.

  2. I will also suggest a cruise in the Caribbean, but I'll suggest Royal Caribbean instead of Carnival.  Carnival is very much a "party ship" but more in their 20s who are on board to drink, party, and meet others.

Royal Caribbean is more family oriented, but they have an excellent teen club where they could meet others their age, or, if they're not into that, there is plenty to do on the ships that they'll enjoy.  The nice thing is that you can be together or apart as much as you like, you won't need to worry about where they are while on board, and there are plenty of activities to appeal to all on shore excursions.

If you'd rather try a land option there are many all-inclusive vacations avaiable (air, transfers, accommodations, and all food and drinks, are included in one price - like a land-cruise). The most popular all-inclusive resorts are available in Jamaica, Mexico, and Dominican Republic, however, there are all-inclusives all over the Caribbean.  Most of the all-inclusives are large enough so that you actually never need to leave the resort.

Another option would be to rent a villa for a week.  There are some great ones on the Yucatan Penninsula, where the rental includes a maid, houseman, and cook. You plan the menu with the cook when you arrive and the cook does the shopping and adds the food cost to your bill.  Its a great family vacation, and the homes usually also include a nice pool and might even be located on the beach.  This would be a great vacation for the 4 of you or it would be great to bring along friends or extended family.  Villas are available that sleep anywhere from 4 - 20 people.

All of the above vacation options are available to match most budgets.

  3. Go on Holland America Line between end of June Early Aug.  Take one of their older ships Ryndam, Statendam, Veendam, Volendam, Zaandam or the newest Noordam.  Do not take Oosterdam and Zuierdam with your kids.  You may think now that you will not enjoy it, but I know you and the kids will.

  5. Hawaii

  6. May I ask did your parents ask for suggestions?  The reason I say this is because Alaska truly is a wonderful trip.  Gorgeous scenery and some really neat shore excursions you would probably enjoy if you like the outdoors.

Unfortunately unless your parents chose to involve you in this planning, which they might be doing.  Then it isn't up to you on where you go considering they are the ones who will be ultimately paying for it.

There are many people who can't even travel let alone take there kids so I would definitely do your best to enjoy this fantastic trip that you are fortunate to take!  If you go I have been there myself and it is so beautiful!  Again if you like nature and the outdoors you should like this.

You maybe have cruised before and if so might have a favorite cruise line.  If not or if your parents are open to other options for you two going with I would suggest Royal Caribbean Cruise Line for more active ships especially for your age group.  If they go with Princess or Holland then you might not enjoy that as much even though they are great lines, they tend to attract an older crowd.

Otherwise IF then they are asking what you want to do I would suggest the Caribbean or Mexico it all depends on what you are looking for really.
