  1. Well I think Montego Bay should be your home port, there are two major cities in Jamaica which are approximately 120 miles apart. There is a lot to see in Jamaica, and no you cannot stay in one city and see the whole island, you can go to Ocho Rios and climb the Dunns River Falls. You can go to Negril and check out the world famous Rick's Cafe' be sure to go there at sunset and bring your camera for the greatest sunset you will ever see,and while in Montego Bay you can go to Scotchies for the best Jerk pork and Chicken this side of Jamaica, while in Montego Bay if ur interested in Duty free jewellery you can go to the City Centre. If you want liquor you should wait until your going back home to purchase it at the duty free store in the departure area. You can also visit the Craft Market for locally made items, be sure to bargain with the locals and don't agree to their first price.Montego Bay,Ocho Rios and Negril are the best places for tourist the roads to travel between these places are great and you should have no trouble moving around these parts. If you want to see the south coast of Jamaica a good place to go would be "little ochi"in Alligator Pond for the best seafood you will ever taste.Hope this helps,Come to Jamaica and feel Alright.

  2. You cannot stay in one city and see the whole island but if you want to have a good tour of Jamaica stay in Ocho Rios. A lot of tours leave from there to everywhere else, plus it is in between the parish capital and Montego Bay.

Portland is a definite must-go, Swim with Dolphins at Dolphin Cove, Bath Mineral Spa and Botanical Gardens in St. Thomas, and YS Falls in St. Elizabeth. Also in St. Elizabeth you may want to see lover's leap. www.viator.com has lists of activities to do in each town.

  3. I think it would take up too much time to travel the whole island; it's bigger than you think.  The road conditions make travel quite slow.  You want to relax and spend some time at the places you go to.  Depends on what you are looking for as to where you stay.  Montego Bay is convienient because of the airport, city, and roads.  Negril is more quaint, relaxed, and back to basics.  I would stay 2 days in Montego Bay, 2 at Ocho Rios and 4 at Negril.  If time permits, travel to Kingston for a few days.  The distance makes this very time consuming though.  Have fun.

  4. Depending on what you are going to do in Jamaica. If you want the touristy things then go to Negril, MoBay, Runaway Bay, Ocho Rios.

If you want a laid back enjoyable style think of St Mary, Port Antonio, Trelawny

If you want to see the entire island then go on a cruise otherwise it would be overwhelming to try and see the entire island in one week

You can however stay at one of the hotels and play and stay for instance Sandals allows you to stay at all their properties for less than a week at each stay

there are villas you can rent that have access to transportation then you can see the entire island but then you would miss out on the luxury of the villa.

  5. The places most frequently visited by tourists is OchoRios, Montego bay and Negril.  To answer your next question, Ocho Rios would be a good central point to travel from.  its close to kingston and portland and its also close to the western parishes like montego bay and relatively close to negril.  If u want night life and such then kingston, ocho rios and montego bay are good. but if u want to be one with nature a nd enjoy more than just parties, then explore Portland and St Elizabeth,.......there is much to see water falls,....nature preserves,  caves, and maybe u might run into one of the "food-festivals" anually held

  6. The best thing to do in Jamaica is climb Dunns River Falls which is located in Ocho Rios. There's also a place called Dolphin Cove which you go to and swim with dolphins , it's also located in Ocho Rios.

    The Top Places :

    1. Ocho Rios

    2. Negril

    3. Montego Bay

Negril is the party capital of Jamaica !

Ocho Rios is the beach fun filled place !

Montego Bay is just beautiful !

  7. By the previous answers, I think you get the idea that it's not possible to tour the whole island.  Driving the coastal roads it takes about 3 days to make the circle.  If you are from the UK or some place that drives on the left side of the road you'd be OK driving but if you are an American or from some place that drives on the right side don't even think about driving.  The roads are narrow, there are no shoulders, the buses are wide and don't slow down plus you have the pot holes.  The best thing would be to decide what you want to do and head for some place that offers that.  You can always get a taxi to take you to other areas and serve as tour guide but bargain for the price.  If you still insist on seeing the whole island I'd recommend Ocho Rios as your home port.  It's about half way along the northern coast and a 2 hour drive  across the mountains to Kingston.  As for the top three places to visit in Jamaica, I'd say any bar that serves cold Red Stripe, any restaurant that serves good jerk chicken and any beach that has women (preferably topless or nude).  As for the top three things to do it would be drink Red Stripe, eat jerk chicken and check out the women (both Jamaican and tourists).  Enjoy.
