Vacation in Nov?

We would like to visit the DR in Nov and are having a hard time deciding out where to stay... Punta Cana or Puerto Plata or any someother area and hotels that would be nice...If you have any links or ideas

Puerto Plata in November is better than Punta Cana and not only for price but also for less risk of bad weather.

Punta cana is very 'touristy'

Puerta Plata is a real victorian city with lots of charm and beatiful old buildings
