I am planning a vacation for me and my daughter this spring.

The main places I am looking at are Brazil and Australia.

I'm going to focus on Australia here though. :)

1.) How is the Gold Coast?

2.) What is the culture like?

3.) What kind of food do they have?

4.) What is there to do? For a mom and a teenage girl?

5.) What should we bring with us?

6.) Is it safe?

7.) Can you surf there? What are the most popular surf spots there?

  1. 1) The gold coast is amazing. A perfect advocate for Australia and the lifestyle. We go up there every year and I'll never get tired of it!

    2) As far as culture goes. Id say its a well cultured place. As are most parts of Australia.

    3) Im sure whatever type of food you wanted you'd be able to get & you'd be able to have it delivered.

    4) There's PLENTY to do. There's amazing shopping, markets, factory outlets, the beach, cavill avenue ( a big one, you definately have to go to cavill ave if youre on the gold coast), theres surfing, you can go fishing, go on harbour cruises, theme parks... you name it, you can probably do it!

    5) Depends on what time of year your going. I'd bring the necessities... clothing, swimmers (a must!), a camera (you want to be able to capture all the moments!).

    6) It is safe. As long as you not there for schoolies week which runs every year in December.

    7) The gold coast has plenty of excellent surfing locations for beginners and advanced surfers. There are tonnes of surf schools! So if youre new to it you cant go wrong. The are also plenty of board hire places. One of the best breaks on the gold coast is at Kirra.

  2. Here is a good site for accommodation - they have meal deals as well as really good rates. You may be able to find something there - www.hotels2go.com.au Goodluck in your travels!

  3. What time of the year do you mean by spring?

Spring in the northern hemisphere or spring here?

If you're talking about November you would be advised to stay away from Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach during Schoolies Week, . I'll post a link.

    1. The Gold Coast is very much a tourist area. There are plenty of people who live and work there but it is a great place for a holiday.

    2. There is something for everyone from families with children, teenagers and young adults to the older folk.

    3. There is food from all over the world available.

    5. I don't understand the question.

Do you mean what to pack?

Pack for a beach holiday, swim suit, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, casual clothes etc.

Sports shoes or walking boots if you plan on bushwalking.

Maybe a light jacket and a pair of jeans in case it gets a little cool at night, which could possibly happen in early spring here.

    6. Yes, I think it's safe as long as you stay away from the back streets at night. Like anywhere stay aware of what's happening around you and use common sense.

    7. Yes, it's world famous for the surf beaches.

One area of the Gold Coast is called Surfers Paradise after all.

Main Beach, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads, North Burleigh, Kirra, Tugan and many many more. There's 70 kilometres of them.

Welcome to the Gold Coast, Australia's favourite holiday location. With over 70km of coastline, most of which is golden beaches and warm tropical sun, it's no wonder people from all over the world are attracted to the Gold Coast.
