My husband and I are a very young couple and are looking forward to taking a vacation to Hawaii soon! How much should we look forward to spending as an estimation in Hawaii?

  1. It depends on what time of year, where you're flying from, what island, what activities you want to do, and how fancy a place you want to stay in. I have been seeing a reduction in flights from LA or SF down to around $600 or so, from up to $850- $900 or so this summer, so the fall is a bargain! Check priceline.com, kayak.com, and some others on our website for good places to find flights.

You can probably get your best deal through owner owned condos, on any island. You can check vacationrentals.com, and some of the others, if you are not set on a hotel that is fancy, etc. Tourism is down, and you can find some good rates now. You can get a week in one of our Maui condos, 1 block from a great beach, in the fall, for about $640, including taxes, for a 1 BR, a nice place. You can pay more for hotels in Maui, they can go up to $200- $300/nt., if that's what you want.

The other advantage of a condo is that you can prepare your own food for part of the meals. Like breakfast and lunch. That can save a lot of money, not eating out every meal. And, Hawaii is not cheap- count on restaurants being 25% or more expensive that where you live. So, it depends on if you plan on eating out every meal, or making some of your own food to plan on that expense to know how much to bring. The food is more expense than at home, also.

The activities can also be an expense. You can do inexpensive things, like snorkeling offshore, drive to the volcano, Hana, boogie boarding, and others, or if you take tours, that is a really expense. They can easily cost you hundreds, if you do them on your own. Taking the cruises are nice, and the luaus, but they are pricey. There is some information about tours on our site, also.

So, you'll have to do the math, since I don't know your plans. You can contact us through the website, if you have questions, if you wish.

  2. maybe around 1400 hundred for plane tickets for both of you. Probably about 1k for hotel.thats 2400 so far. For food and fun you might want to set aside 1600(You may not spend it all but its a safe amount just in case you do need it) so maybe 4k and maybe a bit more just to have some extra cash in case of emergencies. Also, never carry all your money with you at the same time, maybe a couple hundred at a time. Have Fun =)
