Vacationing Ideas?

Hello there :] amanda here

I'm always complaining to my father about out families lack of culture.

His father was a pilot so he's been around the world.

where as my mother and I have lived in Texas our whole lives.

The most cultural place we've been to is Ohio :/

My father told me that if I picked a country or city and did some research on it that he'd put the trip into consideration.

The problem is, I can't decide on a location!

There are so many things I'm interested in!

help?

Here's what I know;

we'll be going in early summer or spring

I prefer someplace warm or tropical

my mother is not a fan of places like Asia, Japan, Africa. I'm not sure why. But considering she'll be paying I must take this into consideration.

I'm thinking somewhere like Greece?

or Ecuador?

any ideas would be helpful!

could maybe include a website or somewhere I could learn more about the country?

sites to visit in the country?

My family likes to relax, see art, and eat good food!

please and thank you!

  1. I think you'll really like Morocco or Egypt. Both countries have a low cost of living and can be travelled on the cheap. Turkey would be another great option IMO, but it is more expensive.

Greece is not cheap, since it costs just as much to go to Greece as it costs to go to Spain, Italy or Germany. At the current exchange rate you'd need at least 75 USD per day and person plus the cost of the flights.

The best way to do research on a trip is to buy a good guidebook. I can recommend the Lonely Planet series.

  2. go to EGYPT see the pyramids and the temples then go swimming and diving in the best diving places in the world along the red sea shores  while eating spicey food yuummmyyyy and kabbab ....   .. and if u go north you can enjoy the lovely meddetranian sea wormer than greece as its south to it ...how about that  ??

  3. I think a cruise would be a really great idea for your family. For example, this past summer my family and I went on a cruise around Europe. Theres is different ones you can take- I have been on one that goes to Russia, Denmark (that side of Europe) but the past summer we went to places like Egypt, Greece, and Italy. Cruises are great modes of transportation because your room and food are paid for and there is always something to do! You would meet such nice people and get to see amazing places. Cruises are also nice because you get to see so many places in on 10 day vacation- and you don't have to worry about getting to any of them- the ship brings you everywhere! My family and I are going to the Galapagos Islands this summer on a cruise- which is definatly warm and tropical like you mentioned- crusies honestly have no limit! Check them out!

  4. The first places that came to mind were France and Italy.

France is really beautiful--especially the southern regions (cliffs, castles, hills--so pretty). There is tons of art there (the Louvre) and the food is excellent. It's not cheap, but if you're not too picky about where you stay, getting a less expensive (then also less nice) hotel room can save you a lot of money. The sights around are so worth it. The train system there is really really good, so you can take trains to different parts of the country. You could also do some family research and see if you have distant relatives that might take you in (it's possible).

I've been to France, but not to Italy. Italy, though, also has great food and beautiful art. There are interesting cities like Venice and Rome, and also a variety of people.

You're really lucky to be going out of the country--it's an amazing experience.

I don't know anything about Greece except for tasty food, but that also sounds really cool and I've always wanted to go there.

Good luck and have lots of fun!!!!
