  1. i started taking mine out after a second round of shots.

We have digging problem as well :(

  2. I agree, ask your vet wen you go to get the shots. Make sure she gets all the ones she needs. Just keep and eye on her and when she digs pull her away from the spot she is uprooting. Don't hit or abuse her of course but instruct her not to dig by being gentle yet forcefull. Good luck!

  3. Your puppy will be susceptible to diseases until it has developed immunity.  The number of shots that your puppy has been given does not mean that immunity has been developed.  Because of maternal antibodies and the way that they interact with the puppy's immune system, puppies will develop immunity from the shots at different ages.  In most cases, maternal immunity will continue to affect the puppy which will cause the pup to get no response from the shots until the puppy is about 12 - 14 weeks old.  The only safe way to know if a pup has developed immunity is to take a titer at least two weeks following the last vaccination.  Or you can give a final vaccination at 14 weeks and then wait until 16 weeks before taking your dog out in public where he will be exposed to diseases.

I know that others are telling you that it is okay to do it earlier, but this is the current protocol for giving puppy vaccinations.  With the serious nature of diseases like parvo virus and the high cost to cure (if that is even possible), it makes more sense to just be more cautious about taking your puppy out before it is really protected.

  4. I take mine out as puppies....as far as digging don't keep him an area where he can dig so he don't grow up digging.....worked for my puppies now dogs.

  5. As soon as she gets her final set of shots, she can start going for walks. Some dogs just dig and there's not a whole lot you can do to stop it. Always stay outside with her and don't give her a chance to dig.

  6. you can walk her outside, just be careful having her around other dogs that you do not know shot records on. around the neighborhood is okay, but dog parks or playing with older dogs is not recommended due to the fact that your puppy has not been fully vaccinated. we do 4 set of puppy shots and sounds like your puppy has prolly only gotten is 1st distemper/parvo vaccine. your pet (in the south at least) needs 3 more distemper/parvo shots, a rabies, and a kennel cough(bordetello) vaccine. there isnt much to keep a pup from digging....besides getting on to her when you see it...if she is digging at the baseline of a fence, placing bricks or blocks at the base can sometimes help...or some fence companies will place a wire in the ground at the base and when the dogs hit it it shocks them and i've seen it work...the dog may go back a couple of times, but not alot

    hope this helps

  7. idk, i brought my puppy for walks since she was 8 weeks old.

now shes almost 4 months and healthy as can be.

digging: just keep saying no ..?

  8. I am not really sure if you can do anything about the digging problem. When you see them digging you can pull them away and say no and then give them a toy or something to focus on. Or you can pay for obedience trainging and see if they can do something about the digging.

  9. As soon as ALL of her shots are up to date, you will be able to take her out for walks. Just ask your vet when she is ready.
