I have an original electrolux 725 vacuum which was great up until a year ago. I had the cord fixed because it had pulled out too far and at the time the guy said something about the ball bearings. I didn't understand at the time that I would have to replace the motor soon. It did blow up a month or so later so I had the guy put in a new motor. It had a 12 month warranty and true to form, at 13 months I decided to use a powerhead for hair in the carpet and the motor blew up and at the same time blew the fuse in my flat. Are the new motors just not as good as the originals (always seems to be the way) since the original worked for 25years without a problem then a new motor lasted just over a year or is there a good quality motor I can have fitted and if so, how much should it cost and where can I get it done? (i live on the gold coast) I love the old 725 but this is a pain!
