Vacuum recommendations??

I live with two roommates in an apartment and our vacuum just died. We need a new vacuum with powerful suction, as we all have long hair and carpet floors. Can anyone recommend a good vacuum with a price range between $50-$150?

Any vacuum will work.  I would just go to the store and find one you all like.  I do not recommend the Bissells that sell for $48 at Wal-Mart.  Just keep the vacuum cleaned out and replace the belt as needed and it should last.

I have the Eureka Boss SmartVac and it does a great job. It has numerous height settings for carpet and a switch to turn off the beater bar so you can use it on floors. The attachment hose has great suction. I have kids and pets and it gets all the hair and dust and dirt up great! Consumer Reports rated it a Best Buy and it is. It was reasonably priced at Wal-Mart.
