Question:

Vaginal Discharge in Toddlers?

My 3 year old, on and off in the past 6 months has had little spots of dishcharge (greeny mucus like what you'd see from the nose during a cold). Yet, it never was more then 1 day in a row, and she complains of nothing and looks fine - nothing looks wrong to me. I've noticed this about 5 times in the past 6 months in her pullups but thought maybe becuase I was potty training her for the night - but this morning she had that in her panties again. Is this normal or something to go see a Dr. for?

  1. Something is very wrong. You absolutely must tell the Dr. about this right away.

  2. Defintely go to a doctor and get your baby checked. It could be a yeast infection or something that he/she shouldn't have.

Go when you can but soon.

  3. dont keep prolonging it. Just ask the doctor you will have peace of mind.

  4. i'm sorry, but green discharge is setting up all kinds of red flags for me.

she NEEDS to be seen by the doctor and if he's got news you don't want to hear, well....  just remember she's your little girl and she needs you right now.

  5. I would go to the Dr. if I had green discharge. def take her to her ped and get her looked at. better safe than sorry. PID and UTI's can get pretty serious. Even if they tell you that it is normal at least you will know.

  6. No hun...this is not normal for a Toddler...Green indicates infection...take her to her Pediatrician

  7. As the mother of a girl, I have to tell you that this is not normal.     My doctor always told me that any discharge in toddler was something to be concerned about as it usually indicates infection.

Does it have an odor at all?   That would definitely signal an infection.     She is at the age to begin "exploring" her body and she may have been doing so and may have gotten some sort of dirt in her v****a.      Children love to explore their bodies at this age and it's quite normal for them to do so.

I'd call my doc and explain what is going on and see if you need to schedule an appointment.    It is most likely just an infection, but it still needs to be handled quickly to eliminate the possibility of anything serious developing.

    Good luck!

  8. Take her to the doc and get that investigated, not normal.

  9. I would talk to the dr no matter what people say here.  Better safe, ya know?
