I had a c-section with my first baby only due to her being breech, 5 years ago.. I am unsure whether I would like to have another c-section or attempt a normal birth.. anyone had a vaginal birth after c-section (VBAC) and what did they prefer?

My c-section was without problems etc, but im unsure whether I would like to have a different one for the experience etc..

Thanks :)

  1. If everything goes well I would try for the VBAC. The healing time is considerably less and far less invasive.

  2. my mom had my older brother through a c section then me vaginal and she said that everything was normal and i actually can alot quicker and easier than my brother and my younger sister

  3. I never had a c section but from what I understand, a vbac is safe after only two years, so five must be even better.  I would recommend vaginal birth, simply because it's the way God designed it.  He designed our reproductive organs in a special way, to deliver a miracle that brings us so much joy (and also to have fun with our husbands, and create a bond between man and wife).  He is a fun-loving creator who loves to bring us joy.  So in this sense, a vaginal delivery is a wonderful thing, and even though there is pain for a few moments, the joy and love are eternal.  Take care.

  4. My c-section was without problems and they made me have one with my second because they say it is not safe to have a vaginal after a c-section. But all docs are diff good luck. well this is what happend to me why a thumbs down?

  5. my sister in law had an emergency c section with her first and vaginal delivery with the other three. she said she would definately prefer a vaginal delivery because u recover more quickly and its much better for u and the baby. goodluck.

  6. I can't tell you from personal experience but I know a lady who has had 5 children. Three were born vaginally unaided, one was a forceps delivery and one was a c-section. And she often recounts the story of her c-section as the worst of her births, it was done under general anaesthetic though so that may have an impact. Other people I have spoken to that have experienced both have all preferred the vaginal births, but I'm not sure which came first (whether any were vbac). I have also heard that it can be a bit more painful after a c-section because of the scarring but that depenmds on the individual I believe. I'd do as much research as you can before you make up your mind. Good luck with whatever you decide

  7. Well I have not personally experienced that i have had my three vaginal, but I had a sister who had her first two births vaginal and then her last was c-section due to her baby being breech. And from what she says that she prefers vaginal only because she says the recovery is alot easier. I think you should try to have it vaginal if you have the option so you know what it will feel like to have them either way. Good luck!

  8. well I only have one child, and am pregnant with 2nd, but I did have a

c-section with her, after being in hard labor for 15 hours prior.  Have to say, I definitely would not want to go through that again.  C-section you go through the soreness but for me it was not as bad as the actual labor.  And yes I did have an epidural, actually 2 and neither one worked.

  9. I have not had a c-section, but vaginal delivery is an incredible experience and it is worth trying if you are physically able! Plus it is an easier recovery

  10. I have 2 friends that had successful VBAC's and they have continued on to have 2 more kids each afterwards. I think plenty of time had passed for you to have healed well and if this baby presents head down why not give it a try? Both my friends said they really didn't want to have another c-section. It took longer to heal and caused some grief with breastfeeding. I managed to have my kids vaginally,(one at home which was great!) so no first hand account, sorry. Good Luck on whatever you decide. =)

  11. I would tell you to do it vaginally.  It is a lot easier on your body.

  12. I've had a c-section and also have the option of doing the VBAC but I'll opt for another c-section depending on the hospital. I would love to do VBAC but if I'm residing where I am now, I'll do another c-section. The hospital I would  have to go to has a 60% success rate with VBAC and that's not good enough for me. You can research the hospital you'll be going to and find out its success rate with VBAC.

  13. Tricky question. If you are eligible for VBAC, I would go for it. Shorter time in the hospital, shorter recovery. But it is not without risks. Talk it over with your provider. Your chance at vaginal delivery is improved if your indication for c-section was breech.
