Vaio taking hard drive space?

i just got a p8400 vaio. everything worked fine until i noticed that something really bads happening. A few hours ago my hard drive was at 200 gb. I installed itunes, windows media, quicktime, vlc and norton and suddenly it was at only 196. This took up much more space then usual. Then things got worse when i hecked today and it read 186. i didnt even install anything excep go on the internet(did not download anything) I left my computer still and a hour later it only had a hundred 85! what the heck is going on?

4GB for those programs you installed sounds about right.  More than usual?  Not sure what you mean by usual.

When you go online your computer updates itself and creates temporary files that help speed up Imternet access.  This takes up hard drive space.

If you system is setup correctly and online it might still be downloading and installing updates by itself.

You have lots of room.  The computer needs some of it to do its work.

What kind of sites were u going to? Video sites like youtube? Any site that has pictures or video will be stored in your computers cache and is downloaded to your computer until you clear it out.

This looks like a bad infection of a Internet Worm or some other Virus. It is constantly eating up your hard drive space. Get an AV software purchased quick, and do not go into the net. Better be quick before the virus eats your hard drive completely and gets it corrupted.

I suggest Kaspersky Internet Security or Zone Alarm Internet Security.
