Vakifbank ttelekom Istanbul heads for FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club Championship final
Vakifbank ttelekom Istanbul of Turkey swept Sollys Nestle Osasco of Brazil in the semi final of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club Championship that is currently underway in Doha, Qatar. The Turkish club were able to stay at the top of the game and head for
the finals, winning the semi-final at the following final set scores today: 25-19, 25-21 and 25-19.
The coach of the winning team, Giovanni Guidetti, made the following comments at the press conference after the match had come to its close: “I'm very happy with my team's performance of not only today, but the whole competition. Especially because we were
only able to train once before the start of this championship.”
On the other hand, the coach of Solleys Nestle Osasco, Luizomar Moura expressed himself by making the following statements: “My team didn't play the way I wanted them to play, not as good as last game. We had difficulties in managing the reception of the
ball. We always want to win, but the difference in experience was just too big today. We played against one of the best teams in the world, especially Nikolic is a world class player. Tomorrow we'll do our best to take home the bronze medal.”
The player that was able to score the most points in the entire match was Malgorzata Glinka of vakifbank ttelekom as she tallied 19 points in all. Glinka was helped by her teammate Christiane Fuerst as she made her presence felt by adding 18 points of her
own. On the other hand, the most active player on the Sollys Nestle side was Samara Almeida with a total of 12 points. Almeida was supported by Ana Beatriz Correa, Ivna Marra and Adenizia Silva, each of whom were able to keep the pressure on their opponents
by putting up a total of seven points each.  
The Turkish club will either take on Rabita Baku of Azerbaijan or Mirador Santo Domingo of Dominican Republic depending on which club wins the other semi-final. The gold medal match of the tournament will take place on Friday, October 14.
