After losing out on two major competitions, the Champions League and La Liga, Victor Valdes believes Barcelona are still one of the best teams in the world of football.
This season, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 did not only lose the Spanish La Liga and the UEFA Champions League; in fact, they also lost their manager, who was mostly considered to be there driving force.
La Blaugrana slumped to a 2-2 away-goal defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League semi-final; while, their chance of getting back into the league was also nullified after Madrid won 1-2 at the Nou Camp later in the season.
The Spanish champions are now without their legendary coach who helped them win 13 titles under his tutelage. However, Tito Vilanova will be taking charge of affairs at the Nou Camp and Victor Valdes believes that despite losing out on so much this season,
the Barca era has not yet ended.
The Barcelona goal stopper voiced his opinion regarding the former Spanish champions and believes that Guardiola’s departure is not going to become a hurdle in Barcelona’s success and next season they will most definitely come back stronger.
This season Barcelona have won 3 out of 6 titles available and they still have a Copa del Rey final yet to play on May 25th, when they face Athletic Bilbao.
The Spanish champions drew their last La Liga fixture against Real Betis and many believe that the draw against a relatively mediocre team might mean that the mighty Barcelona is finally going through a downfall.
After playing against Betis, Valdes gave an interview and said:
“We hope to win the cup.”
“This season two important titles have slipped away, but we’ll be back as strong as ever next year.”
Despite conceding two goals against Betis, Valdes still managed to win the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zamora-c40983 award.
“The award was not a priority, but it’s important for the whole team to win this award.”
Barcelona will be playing against Bilbao on May 25th and in order to give their departing coach a present, La Blaugrana are going to try their best to win the competition and help Guardiola take his 14th title as the coach of the Catalan
giants.
