The Spanish goalkeeper believes that Barcelona are capable of winning a European double and backs his team-mates to get back the trophies which they lost last season.
Last season http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 were unable to shine like they are expected to. First, the Catalan giants lost their chance of qualifying in the final of the Champions League as they suffered a loss in the semi-final. Later, they lost the Spanish La Liga to their
arch rivals, Real Madrid.
However, these weren’t the only things which Barcelona lost. The Catalan giants also lost one of the best coaches in their history, Josep Guardiola.
The Catalan mentor decided to leave the club as he wanted to take a break from football. Therefore, La Blaugrana’s management decided to make Tito Vilanova in charge of the club.
Now, Barcelona are expected to perform in the same way as they did under Guardiola; however, it is going to be a big challenge for the new manager.
Guardiola won 14 trophies during his three-year tenure with the Catalan club, and it is going to be almost impossible for Tito to repeat Guardiola’s feat.
However, Valdes believes that Barcelona can challenge for silverware in the upcoming season.
The Catalan shot-stopper was full of confidence while addressing the press and claimed that the team is already eyeing the Spanish La Liga and the UEFA Champions League in the upcoming season.
Valdes stated that success comes with the attitude of the players and he believes that their attitude is quite positive
While addressing the press, Valdes stated:
"Success depends on having the same attitude as ever. To a large extent it depends on the team but there are other factors that don’t depend on us so much.”
"We'll be going for La Liga and the Champions League this season."
Barcelona will kick start their season next month and their first match will be against Real Sociedad.
Currently the Catalan giants are playing pre-season friendly games, and their recent fixture against PSG ended in a 2-2 draw. Now the Spanish giants will face the Premier League side, Manchester United, on 8th of August.
