Valedictorian question... please help?

Okay so I am currently in seventh grade, and I am doing double accelerated math -- meaning.. I'm currently doing ninth grade math. Now, Im a very ambitious kid, and I really really want to be valedictorian -- the only problem is that my math grade this year (which is the only subject that is counting)

was kind of low this year. Well, they weren't that bad.. but here you decide:

First quarter : 95

Second Quarter : 98

Third Quarter : 90

Fourth Quarter : 92

Final Exam : 98

I really really want to be valedictorian. But the only problem is.. since my grades were kinda low this year, will it really affect my chances? Math is the only subject that is counting, and although my grades aren't THAT bad, I have some tough competition.

I really want this from the heart. I work hard, and yes i may have slacked off a lot this year, but I want this. I know this may not really matter to you, but I just wanted to add that this is truly, a genuine goal.

  1. It seems as if you're chances are good, but it depends on other people's scores.  But don't worry, you still have part of next year to make your grades even higher.

  2. It won't affect your chances. In 9th grade I got a 90 in English, 90 in Global, etc and I was really worried but I worked really hard this year (10th grade) and was able to boost my transcript average to a 96. So one or two 90's won't really drop your average by a lot.

I took accelerated Math, science and Spanish in middle school and it all carried over to high school. So I think it will count :)

Good luck! I hope we both get valedictorian =]

  3. dude, chill

valedictorian means all A-s all 3 years

as long as you get 90.0% and above you're good

  4. Well I don't know your competition but I think that you have a very good chance of being a valedictorian. Good Luck :)

  5. It depends on who else does as well as you. But I understand your concern and I'm sure you have a great chance of becoming valedictorian.

  6. well first off, anything you do in seventh grade does't count towards your high school gpa, so it doesnt matter. I took algebra 1 and geometry in middle school and neither counted towards my gpa. worry about that once you get into high school

oh, and jimmie above me, thats not what valedictorian means at all, it means the top student in your graduating class

  7. i know exactly how you feel

i am competing with a genious, too

your grades were good to start off with, but then they lowered

what really matters to become valedictorian, your GPA really matters, and since you are taking advanced courses, you already have a higher GPA

don't slack off anymore, and follow what your competition does. study a lot and do SAT questions for even more practice. take high school very seriously, it counts a lot

    good luck

    =D
