  1. Is a great city. I visit the city in December 2005. Valencia is the 3 largest city in Spain and is growing very fast. My favorite place is the City of the Arts and Science, the place is modern Acropolis designed by the home architect Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela who design the Aquarium, the largest of Europe. The "city" was built in the old Turia River bed that was diverted out of the central part of Valencia. Spend a day there between the aquarium, the Museum and the Imax eye shaped building.Don't miss the new $450 millions building similar to a warroir helmet that is full of amphiteaters.  As an architect I get impresed by the spatial quality of the complex combined with the incredible architecture and mixed in a background of water (pools). The other modern part of the city is the water front with the new port prepared for the America's Cup. The Cup ended a month ago but is coming back in 3 or 4 years to the same facilities because the defendant Swiss boat Alingy  win again. The city is always famous for las Fiestas de Las Fallas a giant party were immense beautiful and sometimes ugly sculptures end in a bonfire. If you like the beach go to Malvarrosa check the trolley that run to the beach in Summer. The old city is also great with the biggest historical Mercado in Spain, the Catedral and the Minaret. If you like modern art visit the IVAM museum of contemporary and modern art is a good one. Valencia is also a good location to depart for another places in Spain like the Balearic Islands, Majorca and the famous party Island of Iviza, or to visit Benidorn and Alicante.
