Valencia: The continuing tradition of a spineless defence at Mestalla – La Liga Special
Following their first match of the current La Liga season, a glaring deduction can be made that the Mestalla-based outfit will continue to have a spineless defence. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-CF-c40864 have lost their attacking heartthrobs, however, their backline should be relied
upon to choke rather than attack. Unai Emery’s side let three in their goal against a not-so-prolific Racing Santander.
Los Racinguistas are not known for their efficiency in front of goal and this can be exemplified from the paltry 41 goals they scored last season. However, Valencia can be relied upon to be defensively weak. Thanks to their hapless defending, they are sure
to give top sides a goal fest.
Soldado was indeed the saviour of Los Che against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Racing-c40298 but the defensive wobble was indeed started by the attacking talisman, who scored an own goal to cancel out his first minute strike.
The dressing room has changed magnanimously from attack to defence over the last couple of years at Mestalla. As http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 and David Silva headed out of Mestalla, followed by Juan Mata in the recently concluded transfer window, it was believed that Valencia
would have problems in attack. However, after coming from two goals down to win the match, the people in command know attack would not be a bother. Fingers should be pointed towards the defence.
The Defenders’ inability to clear their lines and shoulder responsibility against the league’s minnows was disturbing. They had no answer to the attack they were up against. Fingers were being pointed as Los Che struggled to clear their penalty area. Valencia
faithful had to bear the same events last season and they would certainly be hoping for this to be a one-off event.
Los Che suffer from a number of defensive problems and Unai Emery has to sort them out as La Liga gets in full force after a delayed start and international break. Set pieces are a major problem for Valencia, and this became evident against Santander. Lack
of cohesion when defending from dead-ball situations can be a really tricky affair.
Another major problem can be tagged as poor understanding between players. Indecision was plain to see at the back; whether to keep a high line or go for no non-sense defending? The question remained unanswered. Adding to the woes, players do not tend to
track back to aid in defence, which makes things increasingly difficult for the team on the whole.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Navarro-c10564 and Marius Stankevičius. The duo has left the club and
the defence is being reinvented again.

A full international for over two years now, Rami is a handsome addition at the back for Los Che. Following the goal extravaganza, Emery has also added former Espanyol player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003. Armed with a plethora of abilities, Valencia will be looking
for the youngster to improve on the quality that they already have.
With the loss of Juan Mata, Los Che attack will be in the spotlight. However, the defence will have to show their resolve if the club harbours any hopes of silverware this year.
