Valencia testing session results
The three day long first pre-season test session of the 2011 Formula 1 season, concluded this Thursday at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia. The first day’s practice saw the reigning World Champion, Sebastian Vettel lead the track, while the Ferrari driver,
Fernando Alonso was the fastest driver at the end of the second day. The final day belonged to Renault as Robert Kubica stamped the quickest lap.
As the drivers return from the track, they talked to the media expressing the experience of the first pre-season test ahead of the exciting 2011 season. The two-time World Champion Alonso claimed that none of the drivers had actually threatened him so far.
He assured that he was calm and confident despite the apparently adventurous car designs of his rivals. He believes that the 2011 Ferrari package is just as good as any other great car on the upcoming grid.
While talking to the media earlier today the Spaniard proclaimed, "Futuristic projects are not always better than more conservative ones. I have my traditional Ferrari and I'm happy that way.”
On the other hand, the Red Bull team boss, Christian Horner told the reporters that it was still too early to say anything. He insisted that he was very cautious about drawing any conclusions. He said that everybody understands these initial lap times are
completely insignificant.
Another strong contender for the 2011 title is expected to be the Mercedes Grand Prix Team. When the team driver Nico Rosberg was asked about his feedback for the new team car, W02 he stated, "What we have on the car now is a long way from what we are eventually
going to have. Right now, I'm not worried." He added, "Some teams could be close already to what they are going to have at the first race, while for others it is different. We will have a clearer picture of the situation in Bahrain for the final test.”
It will be exciting to see how the teams use the results of the Valencia testing session to develop their cars for the gruelling season ahead.
