Valencia doctor, Dr. Enrique Gastaldi, revealed in a press conference that former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Boca-Juniors-c38658 player, Ever Banega, has been ruled out for up to six months after fracturing his tibia and fibula.
Banega was involved in a bizarre incident at a refuelling station which led to the horrendous injury. After returning from solo training at the Heron City, Valencia, the Argentine midfielder failed to put the handbrake on and as a result, his foot was stuck
between the curb of the station and the wheel of his own car.
"It is a fracture at the distal third of the tibia comminute with loose bone fragments, it is serious and important," Gastaldi acknowledged. "It has caused a lot of swelling, so we have to wait a bit to reduce the edema of the initial trauma and will proceed
to surgery tomorrow."
"The level of the fracture determines that it can evolve more or less well, this type of fracture tends to consolidate more slowly. We'll have to put a nail through the tibia with transverse screws, and take about six months to return to play if all goes
well," added Gastaldi.
The operation is scheduled for Monday, February 20, and will last approximately for two hours. Banega will remain at the Nou d'Octubre Hospital for another couple of days following the surgery.
