Valencia's Juan Mata is confident that club can hit top form again

Valencia winger Juan Mata says that the club will rediscover the form that saw them top the La Liga standings before the dramatic collapse in their last two games saw them drop points to Real Mallorca and Real Zaragoza.

They were beaten 2-1 by Mallorca on 23 October before drawing 1-1 with Zaragoza at home on 30 October. Observers had expected both matches to be decided in Valencia’s favour, but they have now slipped to fourth place in the Primera Division.

With a crucial UEFA Champions League group stage clash with Scottish Premier League champions Rangers to be played on Tuesday, 2 November, Mata is desperate for his side to rediscover their form as quickly as possible.

The 22-year-old told reporters that allowing opponents to score an early goal had led to Valencia struggling in their last two league games.
"It is important that we stay calm, and do not become nervous. It is true that currently we are not getting what we want, but it is not a problem with motivation or attitude.

"In the matches against Mallorca and Zaragoza, both sides scored early, and we were forced to chase the game. The fans know the role they should play and support us to the death, as did the fans of Rangers when we played in Scotland. The timing is not good,
but I am hopeful we can change this quickly."

Valencia are currently a point behind Rangers in their Champions League group after the sides drew 1-1 at Ibrox. United States international Maurice Edu had put the home side ahead, but netted an unfortunate own goal at the start of the second half to restore
parity.

The Spanish club previously defeated Turkish champions Bursaspor and fell to English Premier League giants Manchester United.
