With the 2011/12 season coming to an end, Los Che continued their barren pursuit of victories, now having to nothing to show for in four matches.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 travelled to the Santiago Bernabeu for their La Liga fixture on April 8, 2012, returning to the Mestalla with a solitary point to show for.
Unai Emery’s men gave a good account of their abilities in the Spanish capital, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 at bay to earn a point for his battling
side.
Despite the magnanimity of their achievement, the fact still remains that Los Che have yet to win a match in their last four outings, registering an unimpressive two defeats and two draws.
Reflecting on the situation, Emery praised his players for the point earned against Real Madrid and believes it will propel them in getting better results in the league.
The 40-year-old tactician admitted that a lot is at stake for Valencia in their upcoming league games and believes time is running out for them. Emery added that all the players need to get their act together as the end of 2011/12 season is upon them.
"We were able to get a point, something that only a few [teams] can do, and this will boost our self-esteem," the former Real Sociedad player said while talking to reporters in the post match conference.
"There are not many matches left and there is a lot at stake for us.”
"We need some of the players who have not been playing well to produce more and we will need to continue to develop some of the positive things we did today."
Unai Emery also took out time to talk about the refereeing controversy at the Santiago Bernabeu. Los Blancos players implored the match official to point to the spot as Cristiano Ronaldo was brought down in the area twice.
Real Madrid assistant manager, Aitor Karanka, was furious with the decisions against his side and vocally criticized the referee in the post-match conference, claiming the match was robbed because of the referee’s ineptitude.
On the other hand, Emery praised the match arbitrator and believes his decisions did not have a bearing on the final result.
