Valentina Vezzali and Elisa Di Francisca leading the 2010-11 Women’s Foil rankings: Fencing News
Three-time Olympic Champion, Valentina Vezzali and the 2010 World Champion, Elisa Di Francisca. are leading the 2010-11 world rankings in Women’s Foil category. The rankings were updated by the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE) on May 25. FIE updates
the world ranking for every weapon category after every World Cup tournaments.
Even if, Vezzali lost 43 points this month, when she was at 364 points on April 1, but she is still leading in the Women Foil category with amazingly 321 points in overall rankings. Vezzali participated in Women’s Foil World Cup, China on May 6 and she participated
in SK Telecom Trophy, Seoul on May 21. She was dropped at fifth spot in quarter-final in both the events. She lost 14 points in China World Cup, while she gained 21 points in SK Trophy. Vezzali is a tremendous fencer who is consecutively taking first position
from 2009. During her fencing career since 2002, she dropped from her top position for just two times only. She has taken eight gold medals in international fencing championships including, Olympic Championship, World Cups and World Fencing Championship.
Another Italian pride, Elisa Di Francisca, made a stunning jump in the top 10 Women’s Foil ranking list in the number second spot. Francisca was ranked third in the April 1 rankings. She is the gold medal winner of SK Telecom Trophy. Francisca was crowned
with gold medal in 2010 World Fencing Championship, Paris. Korean Hyun Hee was dropped from her second position to third due to the quarterfinal lost at SK Trophy.

2. Elisa Di Francisca from Italy with 295 points
3. Hyun Hee Nam from Korea with 290 points
4. Arianna Errigo from Italy with 255 points
5. Sylwia Gruchala from Poland with 166 points
6. Hee Sook Jeon from Korea with 164 points
7. Corinne Maitrejean from France with 153 points
8. Aida Shane from Russia with 140 points
9. Astrid Guyart from France with 134 points
10. Aida Mohamed Hungary with 132 points
