Valentino Rossi denies rumours related to his contract at Ducati – MotoGP news
Valentino Rossi has denied the news that he has been offered $17 million by Ducati to renew his contract.
Rossi said that it is not true as the rumoured amount is even less than what they have been offering for the last two years. He added that he accepts that these are difficult times financially and he has not been able to perform impressively in the last
two seasons. Moreover, he said that it would not be shocking for him if they offer him less money than they ever have.
“This is important to say is completely not true. It is less pay than the offer of these last two years and I think is also right as the situation of all the world is difficult and also I arrive with two bad season with less results so it is normal they
take less money,” said Rossi, speaking at Laguna Seca.
The Italian rider said that he wants to stay with some factory team. Moreover, he said that he is waiting for Audi and Ducati for contract proposal. Furthermore, he said that it is a risk to stay with Ducati.
Furthermore, he said that as far as Yamaha is concerned, the situation has changed a lot as he had some problems with Jorge Lorenzo, rider of Yamaha Factory Racing in past. He added that he was not given priority over Lorenzo where he should have been. He
said that he was ignored from the team more than his teammate, because his teammate was stronger than him in terms of racing.
Rossi said that the times have changed and the situation is different. He added that Yamaha is expected to make the best decision for itself and it is not something he is at odds with.
Ben Spies, teammate of Lorenzo has already announced that he will not be continuing with Yamaha in the upcoming season 2013. Lorenzo has also stated that he would like to race with a strong teammate like Rossi.
It is expected that Rossi will be able to finalise his decision related to his contract in the upcoming weeks if not during the current summer break.
