Valentino Rossi expects more from Ducati despite satisfactory results at Mugello – MotoGP news
Ducati rider Valentino Rossi finished the Italian Grand Prix held yesterday at the Mugello circuit in fifth place.
Despite a satisfactory result, the Italian was hoping to get more out of his bike at his home grand prix.
“We always struggle too much in practice because the other guys are able to improve their speed and their performance a lot with the soft tyre,” said Rossi.
The main reason why Rossi was not able to finish on the podium was that he was struggling with the soft compound Bridgestone tyres. Rossi’s teammate, Nicky Hayden, believed that they deserved a better result at the Mugello circuit since they had a very good
practice run over the weekend.
Rossi said that no other team faced the same tyres issue as they did. Despite practicing a lot, they were unable to get the desired results as the extra grip on the rear tyre was creating problems for them.
“For me, I always have some problems with the front end of the bike, and a lot of times this year when I put on the soft tire I am not able to use the extra grip because the extra grip on the rear makes my problem worse,” Rossi added.
However, describing the problematic factor of tyres, Rossi is looking forward towards the next race in US scheduled approximately two weeks from now, as their team is improving in the ongoing 2012 MotoGP season.
The Italian had been unable to finish higher than seventh in the season and his fifth-place finish at Mugello was something that gave him high hopes for upcoming races.
The Italian was unable to finish above the seventh position until now in 2012; however, ending up fifth was a better position as commented by the racer.
Hayden was fighting for the podium for most of the race but the final lap did not prove successful for him as he dropped to the seventh position. Despite giving all he had, he could not finish on the podium.
However, Hayden is optimistic about the upcoming races and remains positive of finishing on the podium. He admits that it is going to be very tough for him, but he will give it his all.
