Valentino Rossi hopes to stay in MotoGP for few more seasons and then shift to rally – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi wants to race few more seasons in the MotoGP World Championship. Following his racing career he can possibly move to rally world.
Rossi said, “Getting ahead of Loeb in two specials really turned me on... I'll do a few more years in MotoGP, then I'd race in rallies.”
The Italian MotoGP veteran took victories in two stages out of nine-stage event held at the famous Monza track. He held of nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastian Loeb in the annual Italian rally event.
The MotoGP rider was tempted by the attraction of four-wheel racing and expressed a desire to turn his racing career towards the rally after spending few more years in the MotoGP World Championship.
Rossi made a move into Ducati Team with the start of 2011 MotoGP season. After taking title for several years with Yamaha, he endured a pitiful season with Ducati.
The veteran suffered from the lack of competitiveness in the Desmosedici GP11. The machine that helped Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda) to take the 2007 MotoGP title came to be a miserable ride for Rossi.
Since the 2010 Valencia post race test, Rossi started to complaint about the under-steer problem that was characteristic issue with the Desmosedici GP machines. The carbon fibre chassis hampered the bike to deliver its full power on the tarmac and tended
to slide a lot.
He implanted several ideas to solve the issues. Apparently the solution, changing the carbon fibre chassis with aluminium also failed after couple of test rides risked during the race events.
The new part aluminium and part carbon fibre chassis was a rebuilt of original Ducati concept. The chassis was built with different level of stiffness by British chassis experts FTR.
With high expectations and new 1000cc Desmosedici GP12, he aims to run a successive 2012 season and reclaim his dominance in the championship.
If Rossi faces the same situation in the 2012 season, it might be a drastic end to his two wheel racing career that he has lived up to the mark.
However, he expressed the strongest desire to move to the four wheel racing world, but it is still a future plan.
