Valentino Rossi satisfied his first day run at Sepang – MotoGP news
Seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, seemed quite content with his run after finishing fourth in the first day at Sepang Circuit.
Rossi finished behind the Marc Marquez whereas Jorge Lorenzo finished second and Dani Pedrosa lead the first day of the Malaysian test. Less than half a second difference was all that separated
Rossi and Pedrosa.
For Rossi, the Sepang test was the first proper hit-out with Yamaha after his move back to Yamaha Factory Racing from Ducati last year.
“I’m very happy about the first day of testing with the M1. After two seasons, I was able to come back on the bike and remember the good feeling I always had with it,” Rossi said.
Although the German was about half a second behind the two pace setting Spaniards Pedrosa and Lorenzo, still he was very confident that he will be able yield more speed out of his Yamaha
bike in the days to come.
“It’s just the first test but the potential is high and I am in perfect position, I am in fourth place but not far from the other three guys. I am positive that we can improve over the next
few days but I’m happy with the start,” said Rossi.
According to trackside observers and MotoGP experts, Rossi has already begun to show signs of a strong come back after ending a winless run with Ducati. They claim that the German looks like
the same rider he once used to be.
“Rossi looks like a totally different rider on the Yamaha than on the Ducati. The difference is positively stunning,” journalist David Emmett tweeted.
Rossi is eager for a Grand Prix victory in the upcoming season but will the German be able to challenge the likes of Lorenzo and Pedrosa? It is a question that has been widely asked in the
MotoGP arena since Rossi’s announcement of ending his Ducati run and rejoining Yamaha. Although it may be too early to make any final predictions but considering Rossi’s first day run at Sepang, the answer seems to be a ‘Yes’.
